Amash Amendment #100: Stop NSA’s Blanket Surveillance of Americans

H R 2397, Stop Dragnet Surveillance of U.S. citizens. Justin Amash: “We came close (205-217). If just seven Representatives had switched their votes, we would have succeeded. Thank YOU for making a difference. We fight on to defend liberty.” CLICK HERE TO SEE HOW YOUR REPRESENTATIVE VOTED

2014 NDAA

H R 1960, National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2014. The bill authorizes $55 billion *more* in military spending than the amount authorized by law under sequestration and provides $5 billion *more* than the President’s request for Overseas Contingency Operations (i.e., war funding). It also contains a misguided and dangerous policy statement on Syria that encourages greater military intervention and implies congressional support for arming the Syrian rebels. And yet again, the House rejected an amendment (Smith-Amash-Gibson) that would have repealed unconstitutional sec. 1021 of the 2012 NDAA, which gives the President sweeping new power to indefinitely detain anyone, including American citizens inside the United States, without charge or trial. Eighteen Republicans opposed their own party’s NDAA, which is the high mark for opposition in modern history. It passed 315-108.

A Junior Republican in the House of Representatives’ uphill battle to defend OUR Constitutional liberties

Justin Amash, House Representative, Michigan (R)

While he may not be close to becoming Speaker of the House, Justin Amash has slowly but surely become one of the more prominent Republicans in the rebellious wing of the House conference, as evidenced Monday when he effectively forced the actual Speaker of the House, John Boehner, to allow a vote on his amendment to partially defund the National Security Agency as part of the Department of Defense appropriations process. The revelations that the NSA had been collecting the phone and Internet data of millions of Americans en masse has given Amash a prime opportunity to move forward with some of his most important priorities.

Tomorrow the the house will vote on Amash’s HR 2397 amendment which will remove funding for NSA programs using the Patriot Act for blanket collection of phone records and metadata from phone service providers.

The summary of the amendment on the House of Representatives website reads:

Ends authority for the blanket collection of records under the Patriot Act. Bars the NSA and other agencies from using Section 215 of the Patriot Act to collect records, including telephone call records, that pertain to persons who are not subject to an investigation under Section 215.

NSA defenders in the Senate, especially Diane Feinstein and Saxby Chambliss, are flipping out. Today the National Security Head, Keith Alexander, scheduled a last-minute, members-only ‘top secret’ briefing. The invitation warned members that they could not share what they learned with their constituents or others. “The briefing will be held at the Top Secret/SCI level and will be strictly Members-Only,” reads the invite.

No matter what the results of tomorrows vote, the Amash amendment will put the House Representatives on record when it comes to NSA ‘snooping’. Voters will easily be able to find out WHICH REPRESENTATIVES favor tossing our 4th and 5th Amendments down “the toilet”.

As SOON as I have the information I will publish the ROLL CALL here so everyone knows how their representatives voted on limiting NSA mass surveillance. I will also include how U.S. House Representatives voted on the 2014 NDAA, which provides for arming and militarily aiding Al-Qaeda Syrian Rebels (yes, the ones that are massacring Christians, among others) and takes away American citizen’s rights to due process. I will also include the Roll Call for CISPA which aids dragnet surveillance by destroying private corporation’s “freedom of contract”, actually PROHIBITING companies from making legally binding commitment to users not to share personal data/e-mails. (Click here to find out how CISPA aids NSA ‘Dragnet Surveillance’.)

This mini-documentary by Mike Adams explains the “divine right” of self-defense, which is reflected throughout nature. Nearly all forms of life have “weapons” of self defense, including insects, mammals, plants and even birds.

Here, you’ll learn why the possession of weapons for the purpose of self defense is a human right – even a “divine” right – that must be protected for humanitarian reasons.

Mike Adams is the editor of NaturalNews.com and a frequent fill-in host of the Alex Jones Show (InfoWars.com).

For fans of raw milk and those who fight for food freedom in all its forms, the past year or two have been notable for several setbacks on the unpasteurized dairy front, including S.W.A.T. raids on food co-ops.

The Indiana General Assemby has directed the Board of Animal Health to conduct a survey on the sale of raw milk. BOAH will report the findings of the study in a report by Dec. 1 to serve as a reference document for members of the 2013 legislature.

The hearing will be open until Sept. 1. Comments for and against the sales of raw milk are welcomed, as well as suggestions for any potential change to Indiana law. Those who submit comments must provide a name and contact information in case follow-up is needed.

Input from farmers would be particularly valuable, said Denise Derrer, BOAH public information director.

Untimately, the final report will provide guidance to lawmakers, should they decide to legalize the sale of raw milk in the state of Indiana.

The hearing’s webpage can be found on the BOAH website, http://www.in.gov/boah/2615.htm. Those without internet capabilities may submit comments by U.S. mail to the Indiana State Board of Animal Health at Discovery Hall, Suite 100, 1202 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46205-2898. Attn.: Raw Milk.

Downtown New Paris

Did you know that New Paris is an unincorporated town with no taxes to fund expenses? It has been a voluntary system since 1922!

Fundraisers as well as individual and corporate donations keep the streetlights on. Without taxes, the town of New Paris uses “voluntarily given” funds to not only keep New Paris lights on, but also to:

• Purchase land for the New Paris Cemetery
• Continue to look to improve the business environment
• Purchase downtown banners, designed to promote local business
• Purchase/Maintain Christmas decorations
• Work with the Elkhart County Government to stripe streets and install
speed/school zone signs
• Hang Holiday banners and decorations
• Sponsor the New Paris Boy Scout Troop, which is one of the longest
standing chapter troops in Indiana
• Provides land and cabin for Boy Scout troop use
• Provide an annual scholarship to a Fairfield graduated who resides in
New Paris
• Contributes to the New Paris/Benton 4-H Boosters
• Long-standing representation on the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Board
• Organizes Annual Spring Clean Event and sponsors Memorial Day Services

Highlights from last night’s 2nd Friday, New Paris Fundraising Event:

Some of the cars from the car show.

Raymond Wright, Scout Leader, with Boy Scout Troop 12 serving the Haystack dinner. The Scouts work at community events to earn money for Scouting trips and equipment.

Lots of enthusiasm for the corn hole tournament.

Big Daddy’s Blues Band was great! So much so that my husband wanted to dance. But, he’s a great dancer. If I wasn’t so really, really bad, I would have done it. The music was THAT good.

Open letter to Obama from “We the People” and what you can do TODAY for freedom

You can participate in the grassroot’s movement to get our liberties back by calling YOUR SENATORS today:

Upon the advice of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Obama has confirmed his intention to sign two controversial U.N. treaties — the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) and the so called Small Arms Treaty.

Although many citizens and elected representatives are sounding the alarm about the small arms treaty, twenty Republican senators are set to join with Democrats in upholding LOST and the Senate will have more than the required 67 votes to pass.

The 20 Republicans who are apparently set to uphold the treaty are Enzi, McConnell, Hutchison, Toomey, Johanns, Ayotte, Graham, McCain, Lugar, Kirk, Snowe, Collins, Murkowski, Isakson, Grassley, Portman, Corker, Cochran, Brown, and Alexander. Find their phone numbers and contact information HERE.

In a breaking update, 2 of the 20 Republican senators,  McConnell and Toomey, have now indicated they will oppose the Law of the Sea Treaty. One political activist stated that it is important for citizens to call the offices of all 20 to make sure those Senators are on the record with their intent to vote against the treaty.

The small arms treaty, on the other hand, is facing a much more difficult task in gaining the approval of the Senate. Although it is possible to muster 67 votes to approve,  many Democrats are facing reelection in states where gun rights are important. Although Democrats now have a 53 seat majority. Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the National Rifle Association’s powerful lobby group, said 58 senators have pledged to oppose the treaty if it covers civilian weapons, fearing an infringement of America’s gun rights.

“I am here to announce NRA’s strong opposition to anti-freedom policies that disregard American citizens’ right to self-defense. No foreign influence has jurisdiction over the freedoms our Founding Fathers guaranteed to us,” LaPierre said at the UN Arms Trade Treaty Conference in New York.

“The only way to address NRA’s objections is to simply and completely remove civilian firearms from the scope of the treaty. That is the only solution. On that, there will be no compromise.”

The UN will be negotiating the Small Arms Treaty throughout the month of July.

New Executive Order goes after ‘control of communications’

This is not “conspiracy theory“. This is law of the land.

NEW OBAMA EXECUTIVE ORDER SEEKS 'CONTROL' OVER COMMUNICATIONS DURING 'CRISIS'...

After reviewing this order, one is forced to wonder whether the actual function of this order is to assure continuity of communications during an actual emergency, or if this order is designed to expand the control of all communications by implementing measures that redefine crises and emergencies. In the context of the most recent orders implemented by the stroke of his pen, it would appear that Obama is more concerned with command and control than ensuring continuity of communications during times of actual national emergencies.

When viewed in the broader context of the NDAA, supported legislation such as SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA, and his infamous National Defense Resource Preparedness order of March 16, 2012, a discernible pattern of complete control and takeover of all aspects of our infrastructure is emerging.

In this context, it is becoming quite clear that Obama is obsessed with absolute control. Now he’ll have the ability to tell you about it on your cell phone, the internet, radio and television at his whim.

Independence Day: Do We Care?

As we reflect on this Independence Day we must ask. Do we care? What about the Declaration of Independence? The Constitution? Do principles matter? For Liberty!

Generations of Americans have paid the ultimate sacrifice, many dying in foreign lands while longing for a last whiff of American soil, to ensure that we and our children and our children’s children could be free. Yet we are giving up freedoms, right here at home, without even a whimper.

Liberty Bell

THE BELL

That old State House bell is silent,

hushed now its clamorous tongue;

But the spirit it awakened

Still is living-ever young;

And when we greet the smiling sunlight

On the fourth of each July

We will ne’er forget the bellman

Who, betwixt the earth and sky,

Rang out, loudly, “Independence”

Which, please God, shall never die

–Poem by Anonymous from The Family Book of Best Loved Poems

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ALL!
