RE: Pre-Convention Polling Update
As we head to the Republican National Convention, polls across the country show a surge of support for the Republican ticket. The Romney-Ryan momentum is building, while the enthusiasm for Obama and Biden dwindles.
Republicans remain more enthusiastic than Democrats about this election, with 53% of Republicans in a new national USA Today / Gallup survey saying they are “more enthusiastic than usual about voting this year”, versus only 46% of Democrats. A new CBS/NYT/Quinnipiac survey reports even higher enthusiasm gaps in the battleground states of Florida (17 point GOP enthusiasm advantage), Ohio (11 point GOP enthusiasm advantage), and Wisconsin (16 point GOP enthusiasm advantage).
Nationally, the polls have tightened up this week. An average of the past five national polls shows the race tied. But the real news is in the battleground states, where Gov. Romney continues to close the polling gap. Perhaps the most stunning example is Wisconsin. All the latest polls agree: Wisconsin is a tossup. It’s a dramatic shift for a state Obama won by 14 points and where he was leading by 6 points less than a month ago. Now Chicago must be frantically redrawing their path to 270.
The RCP averages illustrate the tightening battleground races:
- Ohio RCP average: Obama 47.2 / Romney 45.2
- Florida RCP average: Obama 46.3 / Romney 46.3
- Iowa RCP average: Obama 45.3 / Romney 44.3
- Wisconsin RCP average: Obama 48.2 / Romney 46.8
The polls also capture frustration and disappointment with Obama and the economy:
- WSJ/NBC poll: 6 in 10 believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
- WSJ/NBC poll: 54 percent disapprove of Obama’s handling of the economy.
- AP-Gfk poll: Two-thirds describe economy as poor.
- AP-Gfk poll: Nine in 10 voters say economy is “important” issue.
As Romney and Ryan fight to save Medicare, seniors are putting their trust in the GOP ticket:
- In the latest Fox News poll, Romney has the edge among seniors 50-41 nationally.
- In Florida, 48 percent of seniors say Romney would do a better job on Medicare according to Quinnipiac; 44 percent say Obama. In Ohio, Romney leads 49-43 with seniors on the issue.
A recap of the headlines highlighting the building GOP momentum follows:

Romney Is “Winning The Favor Of Small Business Owners… And It’s Not Even Close.” “Main Street has already proved an important battleground in the presidential election. Nine In 10 Voters Say The Economy Is “Important” For Them, While Half Say It Is “Extremely Important. “The frail economy, with the unemployment rate hovering at 8.3 percent more than three years after the deep recession officially ended, remains the No. 1 issue. Nine in 10 call it important for them and half of voters say it is ‘extremely important,’ outpacing all other issues tested by at least 10 percentage points.” (Josh Lederman and Tom Raum, “AP-GfK Poll Shows White House Race Still Tight,” The Associated Press, 8/21/12)

41 Percent Of Independents Support Romney Compared To 30 Percent Who Back Obama. “Among true independents, those who say they do not lean toward either party, the share of undecided voters is declining, with each candidate picking up new support at about the same pace. However, Romney maintains a small advantage with the group, with the backing of 41 percent of independents to Obama’s 30 percent. Some 21 percent still say they support neither candidate.” (Josh Lederman and Tom Raum, “AP-GfK Poll Shows White House Race Still Tight,” The Associated Press, 8/21/12)

Over 6.000 students have been targeted as guinea pigs for a RFID tracking system.
In just a few days, two schools in San Antonio, Texas, are planning to begin tracking and monitoring over 6,000 students using RFID microchipped cards. Unless Jay High School and Jones Middle School school boards rethink their plans, students will be required to participate in the technology trial beginning August 27.
Students, parents, teachers, staff, and people from across the nation believe that this action is establishing a dangerous precedent and have set up a facebook page objecting to the RFID chips HERE. In their view RFID tracking violates expectations of reasonable privacy and threatens civil liberties in our schools. Read their draft position paper.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a controversial technology that uses tiny microchips to track items from a distance. These RFID microchips have earned the nickname “spychips” because each contains a unique identification number, like a Social Security number for things, that can be read silently and invisibly by radio waves. Over 40 of the world’s leading privacy and civil liberties organizations have called for a moratorium on chipping items like ID cards because the technology can be used to track people without their knowledge or consent.
You can learn more about tracking students through RFID chips by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Judy Messer greetings! remember this school has been targeted for the reason that the community is very heavy on English as their second language and so fewer parents from the school are in the loop. This is why this invasion of privacy is so severe, the more vulnerable are being targeted. i didn’t have the opportunity to attend from austin but plan to be there on monday to show support

Banking, Barnhardt, Con, Deposit account, Derivitaves, EFTs, Fail, Furtures, Liquidity, MF Global, Money, Money manager, Overleveraged, Ponzi Scheme, Principal Financial Group, Protecting what you have, Safety, Stocks, United State, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, United States courts of appeals
Time is running short. Get Your money and savings out of your bank! NOW! All legal bank and deposit protections are officially GONE.
Former money manager Ann Barnhardt, who, after the MF Global theft, honorably shut down her brokerage firm; so that, her customers would not be ripped off, is giving a new warning about the stability of US banks and the safety of individual deposit accounts. Legal rulings are siding against the people and for the banks; thus, get your money out and get it out now. This is because the market is destroyed and you no longer have any protection for any money invested in any investment, or banking, system anymore, according to Barnhardt.
For example: In a shocking precedent set by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision last Friday the court ruled that Sentinel’s use of $500 million segregated client funds to secure a loan from the Bank of NY Melon for it’s prop trading desk is not fraudulent but is rather perfectly legal.
‘What we’re seeing is the complete disintegration of the financial system before our very eyes! It’s Soviet!‘”, says Barnhardt, ‘You have got to get your money out of the financial system! Not just the futures markets, but the entire thing! Stocks, 401k, IRA. GET YOUR MONEY OUT OR ELSE IT IS ALL GOING TO BE STOLEN FROM YOU! IT’S ALL A PONZI!!!
“I don’t know what else people need. MF Global stole $1.6 billion, PFG Best is $225 million gone, who’s going to be next? It’s clear there’s no regulatory oversight. If you’re still in these markets you’re either stupid or on drugs! That’s the only conclusion that I can come to.”
CLICK HERE for the Sentinel Federal Appeals Court Ruling of August 9, 2012. The entire case reads like an after-the-fact rationalization of a predetermined conclusion.
Please pay particular attention to the section on equitable subordination, on pages 6 through 8. Unbelievably, the court acknowledged in that section that even though some of the bankers lied under oath during the trial, that fact did not prove “sufficiently egregious” actions on the part of the bank.
I will quote the opinion: “Instead of finding that their testimony [i.e. their lies] justified a finding of egregious bank behavior, the district court essentially found that the bank officials were such artless liars that they couldn’t have been concealing deliberate wrongdoing.” See page 7, column 2.
So in other words, a U.S. Court of Appeals has found that if a banker lies under oath during a trial, that fact proves that the bank was innocent of any misconduct with respect to the subject matter of those lies.

Last night, the Texas GOP chose Tea Party-Backed Ted Cruz over David Dewhurst for Senate. Cruz scored a stunning upset over a longtime Texas state officeholder in a Republican U.S. Senate primary runoff on Tuesday, transforming Cruz into a national conservative star and marking a resurgence of the movement to shrink the size of U.S. government.
Cruz, 41, a former state solicitor general who has never held elected office, became the third insurgent Republican this year to defeat an establishment Republican in a U.S. Senate primary.
He scored a surprisingly comfortable victory with about 56 percent of the vote to about 44 percent for Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who a year ago was considered the front-runner.
Many have been saying that the ‘tea party’ movement is dead, but the win by Cruz sends a signal to “moderate Republicans” nationwide, according to Ross Baker, an expert on American politics at Rutgers Universityin New Brunswick, New Jersey.
“Make sure your voting record passes muster with the Tea Party, or you’re in big trouble,” said Baker.

Richard Mourdock, GOP candidate for Senator, says government overregulation is CRIPPLING major sectors of our economy, from energy to health care.
Bill Buckler, author of The Privateer, agrees with Richard Mourdock. In an article for Zerohedge, a website credited with bringing the controversial practice of flash trading to public attention in 2009, Buckler writes that the cost of government regulation is a staggering $1.75 TRILLION per year!
The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), a small “think tank” in Washington
DC, puts out an annual report called: Ten Thousand Commandments” The report deals with the regulatory agencies of the US federal government and
the cost of the regulations they continually introduce – and enforce. This
report would be typical of the regulatory function of pretty well every
government in the world.
In their Ten Thousand Commandments 2012 report which was released in June, the CEI estimates the cost of US government regulation at $US 1.75 TRILLION. That is just under half (48 percent) of the budget of the federal government. It is almost ten times the total of all corporate taxes collected and almost double the total collected from individual income taxes. It is also one-third higher than the total of all pre-tax corporate profits. It is the hidden cost of doing business in an interventionist economy.
The fact that the cost of complying with these regulations is substantially higher than the total of corporate profits is a stark illustration of the end result of economic intervention. That end result is CAPITAL CONSUMPTION.
