Is this attitude fair? Or has the media gotten a bum rap?

In general, do newspapers, TV and radio report news fully, accurately and fairly?

Look at the Time magazine covers distributed to different parts of the world for the same month. One of them is not like the others.

The Oct. 24 edition of Time magazine suggests that U.S. foreign policy is of more importance to foreigners than to Americans. Or perhaps the front page headline wasn't optimistic enough over the job the President in charge was doing overseas?

How can this be? Our government doesn’t control our press…does it? We have the freest press in the world right?

Well, not exactly.

The Obama administration, instead of being the transparent government Obama promised, has taken unprecedented control of the media–even spying on and persecuting journalists.

The indicators for press freedom in the U.S. have been dramatic with a downward movement from 27th to 47 in global ranking.
